"COMPULSIVE SEWING" Quilt

Last week it wasn't a good period for me and my family...my mind was "disconnected". The only thing that I was able to do was...to turn over the scraps' basket and begin to sew one scrap to an other scrap...two scraps with two others...and so on...without rules...without measures...only sewing on!
So... this is my "COMPULSIVE SEWING" Quilt

It is very special for me because it was my therapy!

KASURI ZIG ZAG QUILT

I finally finished this quilt!!!
The top waited all summer its turn....but now Kasuri Zig zag quilt is the protagonist!

I used a layer cake "Kasuri" by Moda and light cream solid from my stash.
The zig zag pattern is simple but with great effect and I  sewed the blocks following an easy tutorial that I found on the blog "Denise room" .
The measures are 160 cm X 160 cm (about 63" X 63"), 100 little HST blocks.
On the back I used, for the first time, a soft sweatshirt fabric (100% cotton) and I didn't put the batting....I wasn't sure about the result!
But now I'm very happy: the quilt is soft, not too heavy and really handy!
I machine quilted with "Shadow light blue" thread only the solid part.

..... new quilt ready to go to a new friend....

TODAY IS.....

.....a special day for us!
It's the GRADUATION CEREMONY DAY of my daughter Anna at  Mukwonago  High School -Wisconsin.
It is an important moment for her and for all our family
Here in Italy we haven't this tradition about the Graduation ......so I have made a little present for her.
She will be at home, in Italy, next  26 june and we are very excited about it!

My last handworks

Last Sunday, at Vicenza Patchwork fair "Abilmente", I saw a cute pouch like a "cat".
So, I have tried to make one like that.
The result is quite satisfactory:

I will send it to Anna in U.S.A. for her little things!

Then, my friend Anna showed to me and other three our friends, the istructions to make a useful  "work sewing case". We decided to make ones for each of us.

....and finally I finished the handquilting of my Freee Stripes Quilt!

Really a cute quilt!

NEW CLASS, NEW TOP....and 100th POST

Three weeks ago, I have had a new class: FREE STRIPES QUILT.

With the  help of my teacher Nichi, I have learned an easy method to make "Free Stripes blocks". A very interesting lesson....so I have wanted to realized a top. I used an eight quarter bundle that I bought last year in Paris. I used also white kona fabric for the contrast.
And this is the top:
The measures are 120 x 140 cm...........just right for a lucky child!

Now I have to begin with the handquilting!

Oh! I forgot..........this is

ROXY QUILT 100th post !!!!!!

I want to thank all my dear followers and all Blogland! I'm happy for this adventure!

T.I.T........

.....Totally Ikea Top

Last month, I had bought three cuttings of Ikea fabric.  It isn't really the same cotton like American fabric but it is 100% cotton, a bit heavier than American cotton.
Of course I prewashed all pieces.
But I had only three patterns: one solid, stripes and little cheched so........I have played with the blocks!
Squares, HST, Log Cabin, Stripes, Scraps........

I think that I will make the back with soft fleece, without internal batting, then a simple machine quilting, may be straight lines!
