MY NEW PAPER PIECING....WIP

For my second "attempt" in paper piecing I chose to make these lovely kimono blocks (about 7" X 8").
I used linen and japonese fabric..... (scraps from my BOM 2012/13)!

Probably.....they will became a mini-quilt to hang or a table runner for my dining room.

TOTE BAGS....

....to inugurate my new sewing corner!

I made this one with  one fat quarter "Echino fabric by Etsuko Furuya for Kokka" and Ikea gray linen.

I made this one with one fat quarter "Pretty Birds by Pillow & Maxfield for Michael Miller" and Ikea heavy cotton.

Great satisfaction!

T.I.T........

.....Totally Ikea Top

Last month, I had bought three cuttings of Ikea fabric.  It isn't really the same cotton like American fabric but it is 100% cotton, a bit heavier than American cotton.
Of course I prewashed all pieces.
But I had only three patterns: one solid, stripes and little cheched so........I have played with the blocks!
Squares, HST, Log Cabin, Stripes, Scraps........

I think that I will make the back with soft fleece, without internal batting, then a simple machine quilting, may be straight lines!

My BOM 2012

Last Wednesday, I had  the BOM class at Irene's shop, "La Volpe Rossa", with the teacher Nicoletta. There will be twelve meetings (may be) to complete the quilt.
The project was born in Amish style but, of course, we can choose the fabrics that we like or we have in our stash.

For this project I have chose theese fabrics that I already had: Japanese fabrics!

So, it will be...... JAPANESE HOUSES QUILT

Sunday shopping!!!

Last Sunday I spent a pleasant day. I was in Vicenza with the quilters' group, someone from Monfalcone and someone from Trieste: we visited "Abilmente", an important fair of patchwork, embroidery and other beauties.
Of course..... I think that the fabrics' lovers, when they go in a place like this.....they must leave credit card at home!!!
Seriously, there were a lot of beautiful things to buy. I hadn't eyes to see all.
However... I had my little shopping...

Fabric for Christmas decorations....

...with coordinated ribbons.

Cute buttons!!!

Tilda design (that I'll use with other Tilda's fabric that I already have)

Japanese style!!!

And my favourite fabric of Sunday shopping: coloured Kaffe Fasset !!!

Now I have enough "material" to work with!!!

P.S. : Thank you Francesca for our chat, it was a nice time!

New project.

The summer is ending and I want to begin a new quilt! These are the fabrics that I have chosen for the project: dots and solids!

 Full color!!!

The pattern will be simple, I think "square in a square" so the color will show up!
Today I begin by cutting.......

Paris: what I bought and....where!!!!!

I came back from Paris with a little treasure: new fabrics!
When I arrived in France, I had only two address of quilting shops and I wanted to find both. The first was "Le Rouvray", a famous shop near Notre Dame Cathedral. I was very curious to see it and to buy some fabric but the shop..........was closed!! It was on holiday all august!
Ok! Never mind, I think: there will be other stores!
In fact, I found another beautiful shop, "Ines", where I bought two set of fabric and near Sacre Coeur Cathedral, Montmarte, there were a lot of fabric's stores with beautiful fabrics and with prices not too...hot (for Paris, of course!).
Here there is what I bought.....

......and here there are the address and links:
"Le Rouvray" -6, Rue Des Grand Degrès, 75005 Paris
"Inès-La Boutique du Patchwork" -37, Rue Saint Ambroise, 75011 Paris

"MolineMercerie" - 2, 4, 6 Rue Livingstone, 75018 Paris
