In these last days, I unstitched the purple blocks and the magenta blocks because the purple ones looked too dark. Then I exchanged the colors: purple centers with magenta stripes and magenta centers with purple stripes. This is the result:
Now I have more balance with the colors and I eliminated the part too dark.
But..... I'm still not satisfied! Game over!
My niece Maira advesed me to lay the blocks like a spiral: it's a good idea and I have to try this way!
Then..... we'll see what will come out!

New project.
The summer is ending and I want to begin a new quilt! These are the fabrics that I have chosen for the project: dots and solids!
Full color!!!
The pattern will be simple, I think "square in a square" so the color will show up!
Today I begin by cutting.......

A new book and a new block.
Last thursday was a good day! In the morning I received , from Beth of Love Laugh Quilt, the book that I won last month on her giveaway!
The book is "Out of the Box with easy blocks" and the authors are Mary Lou Weidman and Melanie Bautista McFarland. The book is really intriguing and I think that I will learn a lot about technical.

Inside there is a kind note from Beth and Mary Lou and Melanie autographs!
Later, in the afternoon, I had my class of "Japanese X & + Block" with my teacher Nicoletta.
It is very interesting block, not too difficult to do, but very particular for the use of color.
In true, I have a lot of problems with the theory color: I have to study a lot and make experiments to try to pull out my colored part (that I hope to have inside me)!
This is the block made with fall colors.....
....and this with other colored scaps!
I like both!

"Elephants tote bag"
This is the first project with a fabric that I bought in Paris last days.
I know that my niece Maira loves elephants, her favourite animals, and so, when I saw this cute fabric in a store in Montmarte, I immediately thought: "Here it is! The right pattern!"
A tote bag is always a welcome and useful gift! Of course, it is a simple project because the days are full of things to do and the time is... pressing!

Inside I made two little patch pockets, for mobile phone, hanky or keys.
The Roxy label is always in its place.
Maira has already received her gift ......and she likes it very much!

Paris: what I bought and....where!!!!!
I came back from Paris with a little treasure: new fabrics!
When I arrived in France, I had only two address of quilting shops and I wanted to find both. The first was "Le Rouvray", a famous shop near Notre Dame Cathedral. I was very curious to see it and to buy some fabric but the shop..........was closed!! It was on holiday all august!
Ok! Never mind, I think: there will be other stores!
In fact, I found another beautiful shop, "Ines", where I bought two set of fabric and near Sacre Coeur Cathedral, Montmarte, there were a lot of fabric's stores with beautiful fabrics and with prices not too...hot (for Paris, of course!).
Here there is what I bought.....
